Agate is characterised by its stripes (also known as banding). It is the name given to any banded Chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz.

Agate is a soothing and calming stone that heals inner anger or conflict, providing support and balance and creating a sense of safety and security.

It is a grounding stone that cleanses and stabilises the aura, eliminating and transforming negativity.

Agate also enhances mental function, improving concentration, perception and analytic abilities.

This beautiful polished Agate obelisk has a large window of Quartz surrounded by beautiful swirls and banding, coloured with greens, blues, yellows and lilacs.

Obelisk shaped crystals are believed to purify the energy by amplifying it and focusing it through the pointed end of the crystal, or the apex.  It is thought that these crystals help acquire and maintain good mental, physical and emotional balance and dissipate negative energy (much like Agate itself).
