High Grade Oco Agate Geode Halves
High Grade Oco Agate Geode Halves
The word Geode comes from the Greek term, Geoides, which means Earth-like.
Oco or Ocho geodes are small Agate geodes with a druzy quartz lining that are found in the Tres Pinheiros region of Brazil. They range in size between about 1/2 and 3 inches in diameter and formed in the vesicles of basalt flows that underlie parts of this region.
Most Oco geodes have a thin Agate rind, an open interior, and an interior druze of tiny sharp quartz points about 1/8 inch long. Upon weathering, the basalt flow forms a reddish-brown soil and the geodes, being much more resistant to weathering than the basalt, accumulate in the soil.
Agate is characterised by its stripes (also known as banding). It is the name given to any banded chalcedony which is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz.
Agate is a soothing and calming stone that heals inner anger or conflict, creating a sense of safety and security.
It is a grounding stone that cleanses and stabilises the aura, eliminating and transforming negativity.
Agate also enhances mental function, improving concentration, perception and analytic abilities.
As theses Agate geodes are cut into halves, they make beautiful gifts as you can keep one for yourself and gift the other to someone you love.
